All other troops are fodder, no level up system, no retreat, no dynamic cover system, less troop upgrades than prior DoW games, just send troops out to die then make more troops. I want to stress, nothing matters in this game but elite hero's. Originally posted by Tree Fiddy:I gave the game a positive review, but I also don't really like it. It wasn't, people pounced, and now we're left with what I think is a good game that very easily could have been great.įor what it's worth, the 1 thing that I miss the most is more races.I enjoy (or can live with) everything else. Perfect world, it would have been the perfect game at launch. People made it out that Relic made a crap game on purpose (I don't think it is a crap game, btw). But I think it had a good foundation that could have been expanded on with a DLC/expansion and a bit more polish/adjusting if people would have just been a bit more patient. And clearly not everyone was happy with many of the design decisions (although I think they were in a no win situation here.do they cater to DoW1 or DoW2 fans or try to do both.clearly both didn't work out well for them). Clearly DoW3 was released prematurely (probably thanks to Sega) with too few maps and game modes. At a minimum, I'll hang back for a bit to see where things go.Īnd honestly, the hypercritical players who posted scathing reviews helped screw the future of DoW3. Guess what.I'm less likely to get involved in another Series for fear it will be cancelled. It's like when you watch Season 1 of a TV Show, and then the show is cancelled. Right now, I am hesitant to buy any future Relic games because of the worry Relic will drop support like they did here. I realize they probably wouldn't make any money with a DLC/expansion, but it's also about making good with your customer who has already invested in this title with the expectation of DLC/expansions, and may (or may not) invest in future titles. Gameplay aside, Relic really screwed up by dropping support for a $60 title in less than a year without a single DLC/expansion. I've been playing a fair bit lately, and the more I play the more frustrated I get because I think this is a pretty fun game that had potential.
